You Are the Foundation of BT’s Success: Now It Is Time to Talk Pay

As pay negotiations open, CWU Capital members have a crucial opportunity to make their voices heard.

BT’s performance over the past year has not happened by accident. It has been delivered by you.

In the first nine months alone, BT generated £6.2 billion in earnings. The network has now reached 21 million premises, with over one million added in quarter three. A record 571,000 full fibre connections were delivered in a single quarter. Customer satisfaction has reached record levels. EE has been named the UK’s best mobile network for the 11th consecutive year.

These are not abstract achievements. They reflect the daily work of CWU members across the business.

At the same time, members have been expected to adapt to new AI systems introduced to streamline operations. In reality, many colleagues report that workloads have intensified. This has all taken place against a backdrop of cost transformation programmes and efficiency drives, with continued pressure to do more with less.

BT leadership often speaks about building a winning team. A winning team deserves fair pay.

If BT is serious about returning to growth and competing in a challenging market, investment in its workforce must be central to that strategy. Members are experiencing the rising cost of living every day. Fair pay is not simply about reward. It is about respect and recognition.
