Putting Member Safety and Wellbeing First
At CWU Capital, your health, safety, and wellbeing — both physical and mental — are at the heart of everything we do. Whether you’re working in the field, at a desk, or remotely, you have the right to a safe, healthy, and respectful working environment.
We work alongside employers to ensure proper standards are met, hold them to account where they fail and support members directly when things go wrong.

The Role of health, safety and wellbeing
What Do We Do?
Represent you in Health & Safety matters
Our trained Union Safety Reps (USR) conduct workplace inspections, raise concerns, and challenge unsafe practices.
Campaign for better workplace conditions
We push for improved risk assessments, mental health support, and safety protocols — especially during periods of change or restructuring.
Support members with workplace injuries or stress
We can help with formal grievances, stress-related absences, and access to external support services.
Our Safety Coordinator
Our Safety Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring that health and safety issues are identified, addressed, and escalated within the union structure. Darren Roberts, coordinates health and safety activity across the branch as well as providing support and guidance to our Union Safety Representatives.

The Role of health, safety and wellbeing
What happens if my employer breaks Health & Safety?
In the event, a business breaks the law on health and safety they face the prospect of; losing staff, higher recruitment costs, lower retention rates and even worse, lower profitability. If all of that was a worry, it could come at a cost to the employee too, through illness, injury and worst still, death. The business can be prosecuted for ignoring health and safety regulations being faced with fines, imprisonment and the loss of the business altogether.
You deserve to work in a building or on a site that adheres to the necessary Health and Safety regulations. As a member of the CWU Capital you can count on us to ensure your employer is following every guideline to the letter. What’s stopping you from joining us? Join us today.

How to report a fault
Reporting a Fault?
Reporting building faults is key to keeping your workplace safe, functional, and comfortable.
If you spot an issue — like a broken lift, leaking roof, or faulty electrics — report it straight away. This helps prevent accidents, injuries, and disruptions to your work.
Use the proper channels: speak to facilities management, log it in the reporting system, or notify the maintenance team directly.
By reporting faults quickly, you help keep the workplace running smoothly and show you care about your safety and that of your colleagues.
