CWU Capital Retired Members AGM

The CWU Capital Retired Members Annual General Meeting (AGM) brought together members to review the past year’s activities, discuss future plans, and elect officers for the coming term. The meeting opened with an address from Alan, setting the agenda and highlighting key areas for consideration. From updates on visits and membership to decisions about aligning future AGMs with the main Branch, the session covered important developments that will shape the group’s work in 2026 and beyond.

Opening Address

The opening address was given by Alan, who outlined the areas that would be considered at the meeting.  Danny was to take the minutes.

3. Officers Reports


Alan reported that another 10 visits had taken place this year and a further 10 visits/walks were planned; refreshment costs for the meeting were covered for members and this years Christmas function was on the 9th December at the same venue.


Danny reported that there had been a minor reduction in membership from 453 to 441 members this year; possible affiliation to the Pensioners Convention was still to be actioned.

4. Vote to Change the AGM to March, starting 2026

There was discussion on the proposal to align future AGM’s with the main Branch. 

Vote carried by 8 to 1 members to hold the AGM at lunchtime before the Branch AGM. 

5. Election of Officers

The following members were were re-elected with no objections:

Alan Knight – Visits Secretary
Brian Nash – Treasurer
Daniel Oakley – Secretary

Election of Chairman, Jason Reynolds was nominated by Brian Gapes and seconded by Roger Lambeth.  He was unanimously elected as Chair by 9 – 0 votes.

6. A.O.B

Noted that any Expense Claim Forms are to be returned to the Branch Office.

Possible affiliation to the National Pensioners Convention, at an annual cost of £50, is to be investigated.
