Tuesday - 21st June 2011

Unionlearn's fifth annual conference (/websites/LinuxPackage09/cw/uc/ap/cwucapital.org/public_html/resources/ent/thisimagecannotbedisplayed.jpg)

unionlearn’s fifth annual conference.

The event will be held at Congress House in London on Monday 27th June and is entitled “Making Learning Click”.

As usual we will have a range of high profile speakers including Martha Lane Fox, the UK’s digital champion. We will also be hearing more from our new maths champion, Nathan Cleverly, the interim world light-heavyweight boxing champion. Nathan is a recent maths graduate as well as a boxing champion and he is helping us promote our numeracy campaign.

We have again teamed up with Quick Reads to ensure we have one of the authors of this year’s Quick Reads books to speak to delegates and sign books during the lunch break. There will also be a series of new videos which will showcase areas of work of both unionlearn and key areas of skills including apprenticeships.

The conference is of course a chance to celebrate our work over the past year as well as looking forward to the year ahead, including events such as World Skills in London this autumn, and we will be celebrating achievements with the unionlearn Quality Awards.

The day will conclude with workshops in the afternoon which will cover a range of important topics from green skills and apprentices to digital learning and skills policy, to name only a few.

The main conference itself will run from 10.30 until lunchtime with workshops from in the afternoon. Registration will start at 9am with breakfast, exhibition stands to visit, music, and a chance to network. Lunch will be provided.

The draft outline programme for the event is:

09.00: Registration, breakfast, exhibitions

10.30: Conference

13.00:  Lunch

14.00:  Workshops

16.00:  Close
